ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores what people carry quietly while continuing to function in the world.
Through figurative sculpture and painting, I examine the tension between outward composure and internal weight. My sculptural figures appear carefully dressed and composed, their faces obscured by balloon forms that suggest both concealment and accumulation. They present a controlled exterior while holding something unseen.
The paintings move into more intimate spaces. Figures are simplified and often silhouetted, allowing posture, light, and atmosphere to carry emotional meaning. Domestic interiors and restrained colour palettes create a sense of containment. These are moments where the body gives away what the face refuses.
I am drawn to moments of containment, to the quiet tension of a body holding itself together while carrying invisible weight.
Across both mediums, the work invites viewers to recognise the unseen emotional lives of others and to sit with stillness rather than certainty.
